“This is crazy, mate. I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Dave said, leaning into Matt as they stood watching the high-performance cars roll out of the garage towards the track.

Matt nodded, agreeing. He’d seen some crazy stuff over the last few years, but standing here beside his old school friend, having revealed Magic to him only a few weeks ago, he could kind of see things from his perspective.

He could see the insane possibilities that Magic offered and the opportunities that it gave them.

Outside, the Mediterranean heat beat down on the Monte Carlo track and glistened over the paintwork of the cars as the organisers prepared them. As far as Matt knew, it was only because of Magic that they had this chance to race around the Monte Carlo track the day before the F1 race that was due to take place here. He’d already met and shaken the hand of several of the top F1 drivers and seen a few celebrities in the paddock.

Nearby, his brother Rob was pulling on his helmet, along with Howie, Orion, Xain, Stephen, and Raven. They’d each get a car to race today, and they were all very nice cars too.

“It’s pretty mad, isn’t it?” Matt agreed.

“Yeah! I think I need to find a Magus to marry.”

Matt laughed. “Yeah, good luck with that.”

“You found one,” Dave pressed.

“I guess. Shall I let you know if Amanda has a single friend that I can introduce you to?” Matt replied jokingly.

“I knew you’d understand,” Dave joined in with a grin. “Are you nervous? About the wedding, I mean,” Dave said, taking a slightly more serious tone.

Feeling a slight tightening in his chest at the thought of seeing Amanda walking up that aisle in white, Matt nodded. “Yeah, a bit. But only because it’s a big step, not because of Magic or Amanda.”

“I get it. I think you two are perfect for each other, by the way. Plus, she’s a total babe.”

“Thanks,” Matt replied, laughing, shaking his head. “I’m sure Mandy would appreciate that.”

“I have more where that came from.”

“I bet.”

“Seriously though, she’s great. You’ve found someone special there.”

“Cheers,” Matt replied, shifting his weight around, unsure how to take the compliment.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my life now though, now that I know Magic is real. Like, working in an office seems a little…boring, now. Know what I mean?”

“I do,” Matt nodded. “I felt the same way back when I found out. I couldn’t concentrate on my job, nothing was good enough, and it just became an obsession. But I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it, I couldn’t ask for help. Which is why we meant what we said when we revealed Magic to you. This will change things, it changes everything, but we’re here to help. If you need us for anything, it’s okay to reach out and ask. We know what we’ve done to you by pulling back the curtain. Knowing this stuff is life-changing in a very fundamental way, and it can be difficult to deal with.
